Inspiration
Design by MIST-O, 2012
This is a monolithic sculptured table that is extremely simple and linear but with the addition of an element that moderates the austerity and rigid quality of the object. There is a series of steps that direct one`s attention to the world of architecture by calling to mind the stairs of buildings and monuments and the steps leading to the door of a house.
The ladder becomes a functional part and is useful for magazines, small objects, vases, etc. and also a conceptual part which metaphorically goes from one world to another, from one space to another, from a chaotic outside environment to one that is calm and domestic on the inside.
Designer
Mist-o is an Italian / Japanese industrial design studio. Established in 2012 by Noa Ikeuchi and Tommaso Nani, is based in Tokyo and Milan.
The studio is a bridge across Europe and Asia and the work ranges from the design of furniture and small objects to spatial arrangements. Tommaso and Noa divide their lives between Japan and Italy working between the two countries. Even if their background is very different they found a common ground in the constant research to simplify the expression, trying to design products that brings a light and serene vibe, but conceived with a rigorous and industrial-driven process. Mist-o is used to working with a geographically spread design team, and believes that this collaboration benefits the project and the Client and also believes this working method enhances the understanding of the local culture in its broadest sense.
Amongst their clients are Arflex JP, Cappellini, Ichendorf, Living Divani, Oluce, and Tod’s.
