Diorama armchair

With Diorama, the Swedish design collective Front transforms the armchair into a perceptual device. The unusual height of the backrest redefines the scale of the object, giving it an almost architectural dimension: a soft wall that shapes space and creates a threshold between intimacy and openness.

Inspired by the concept of the diorama — a three-dimensional representation capable of evoking landscapes and depth — the armchair invites the gaze to wander beyond its boundaries. As in the paintings of William Turner, the horizon is never fixed but suggested, shaped through light, atmosphere and perception.

Sitting in Diorama means crossing that threshold: the observer becomes part of the scene. The surrounding space turns into landscape, while people and light become elements of an ever-changing composition, creating an intimate and immersive experience of contemporary living.
